After many twisting, winding roads with tight hairpin turns, we arrived in Ravello, Italy late yesterday.

My husband's daily driving in Istanbul and throughout our travels in Turkey prepared him well for the crazy, but beautiful drive from Napoli to Ravello. The only annoying part was practically being driven off the road by monstrous tour buses! I despise large tour buses.

Upon our secure arrival in Ravello, I could finally relax and just soak up this amazing view. It's everything I've seen in photos and movies, but so much grander in person.

Today, we're hiking down from Ravello to Atrani and then to the town of Amalfi. It's easier going down, so I think we'll take the local bus back up.

Ciao!

Yes, those tour buses! Glad you managed to negotiate the drive. It is spectacular. What would it be like to actually live there? Mmm ... carrying the groceries up all those many steps might not be such fun. But maybe the views would make up for it?

Fantastic view. I love the name too. It sounds so glamorous - Almafi Coast. You can just picture Lee Radziwill and Jackie O around the corner.

@Miss Footloose, yes living there might be a whole different story, but it was certainly beautiful to visit!

I was surprised to see many older Italian women walking up/down the stairs and on the side of the road carrying what looked like groceries from the markets.

@Joyce, Claudia and Karen, yes, amazing views! But I did not enjoy the drive along the coast with my husband driving - the roads are so narrow at times and you can't see around the corner. A bit unnerving!
